Last week, we celebrated Mae Mae and the Bub’s birthdays. I had grand visions of taking them each out for perfect photo sessions. Immediately, Mae Mae refused. But, I thought for sure if I took the Bub out, he would have fun exploring and would let me get a few pictures. Here is the best one that I got:

Not good. He was just cold and mad and would not even considering cooperating for the pictures. Obviously, we will have to try again
But, we did go to the zoo the day before Thanksgiving. The Hogle Zoo offers a free day the last Wednesday of every winter month. We packed some snacks, bundled up, and headed out. We got there just in time to watch the zookeepers wade through the lake to catch the pelicans. Mae Mae was very impressed!

We all enjoyed the monkey house and the reptile house.

My favorite animal was the baby elephant, Zuri. Seriously. Could she be any cuter?

I love the zoo. It must stem from my childhood. My Grandma is an avid zoo supporter. She always got the grand pass that allowed her children and grandchildren to go with her. She could even talk to the parrots and get them to talk back! I still think that is pretty amazing.
