dancing girls…

May 25, 2007

Last weekend, the girls had their dance recitals. It is SO fun to watch them dance on the stage and watch their little personalities shine!

Kennady’s first dance was “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid. The little tiara was her favorite part of her costume and she thought it was really neat that she got to hold a gold fork while she danced. If you ask her about it, she will tell you how funny it is that Ariel thought the fork was a brush!

Her second dance was “Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weeny Yellow Polka-Dot Bikini.” So, they wore little tankini’s for their costumes :) Kennady told me that the girl in the song was afraid to come out of the locker because she was not modest, but that she (Kennady) wasn’t afraid to go on stage because her swimsuit was modest. The dance was ADORABLE.

And, here is another picture…just because it is funny. Can you tell she is done having her picture taken?

Addy’s first dance was her princess dance. She especially liked doing the priness turns and was very happy to have her own pretty costume.

Her second dance was “Upside Down” from Curious George. This is a fun upbeat song. The girls got to bounce, twirl their tails and be silly. After Kennady’s recital last year, Addy begged to be able to dance on the big stage. So, after a whole year of waiting, learning and practicing, she finally got to dance on the big stage!

DISCLAIMER: This is totally BJ’s fault!

I was making the girls toast for breakfast, when BJ came into the kitchen. He proceeded to spread nutella onto his peice of toast and off he went to work. So, now, jam was no longer acceptable. I promise that I don’t normally feed my children chocolate for breakfast! But, how can I say no to them after they just watched Daddy do it? Crazy Dad!

first ultrasound…

May 15, 2007
On April 25th, I had my first appointment with Dr. McNeal. She brought in her portable ultrasound machine and gave me a couple of pictures to take home to show the girls. Well, Tai had been watching the girls for me while I was at my appointment. So, when I went to pick them up, I brought my little pictures in to prove that there really was only one baby (she was hoping I would have twins). Tai took one look at the picture and said (joking), “It’s a boy…I can tell!” Of course, at this early stage it is not possible to tell the gender of the baby yet. But Addy, who was sitting at the table nearby overheard Tai’s remark. Later, I was sitting next to her and she whispered in my ear, “Mom, why is it a boy baby, when I want a girl?”

pink party…

May 14, 2007

Last month, BJ’s stepsister, Lyndsey, was in town for a visit with her two little girls. Grandma Char planned a pink party for all the granddaughters. First, she let the girls “help” decorate for the party with pink balloons and pink crepe paper…

Then, each girl got to decorate her own cupcake with pink frosting and pink sprinkles. In order to convince Brighton to sit in the high chair, Grandma told all the girls that Brighton was the queen. The big girls could not stop giggling at the idea that little tiny Brighton was queen. After eating their tasty cupcakes and drinking their pink lemonade, Grandma had a surprise for each girl…

She let Brighton peek into the basket first. Well, Brighton saw the surprises for the big girls and was really excited about them. But, Grandma had thought that Brighton would be too young to care about fancy shoes and had a cute little princess doll for Brighton instead. When Grandma handed Brighton her doll, without hesistation, she chucked it over her shoulder and poked her little head right back into the basket in search of a pair of shoes. Ha ha! So, here are Addy, Kennady, Brileigh and Macy showing off their fancy shoes…

Then, outside they went to blow bubbles from their pink bubble containers and eat pink ice cream cones. Someone had abandonded their fancy shoes, which Brighton confiscated and wore all about the yard (serious concentration required).

The next time we saw Grandma, she had a pair of fancy shoes just for Brighton! And, of course I had to snap a couple of pictures of Emma. She is such a happy baby!

Thanks for a fun PINK party, Grandma Char!
